Ask anyone to name their favourite holiday destination and the chances are you’ll hear Tenerife. A lot.
This sun-baked island, the largest of the Canary Islands, has got tourism down to a ‘T’. With a year-round climate, warm Spanish hospitality, top-notch hotels, sparkling beaches and a varied selection of resorts, it’s certainly got holidays covered.
The island is split into 31 different regions, or municipalities, which are each home to various villages, towns and holiday resorts. You may not be aware of these regions on a trip to Tenerife, but it may help to know that they exist so you can plan your holiday a little better. For instance, Arona holidays probably won’t mean much – yet mention Los Cristianos and you’re more likely to have heard of it. Los Cristianos, a town and hugely popular holiday resort, is actually located within the region of Arona on the Southern tip of the island.
You may notice specific events or festivals planned by the local municipality, and attending these is a great way to experience the local lifestyle and have some fun. And on the subject of fun, Tenerife has got this by the bucketload. There’s no end to the various things to see and do here, from wild water parks and adrenalin-pumping water sports, to mountain biking through the dormant volcano range or partying the night away in Playa de las Americas.
Whatever you choose to do, getting here is refreshingly easy. There are a huge number of flights arriving on the island every day, and still more package holidays to choose from – many of which offer great discounts and late deals. For instance, book a Thomas Cook package holiday and you’ll no doubt benefit from numerous special offers, especially if you book at the last minute.
Whatever you fancy and however you choose to holiday in Tenerife, it’s bound to make its way to the top of your ‘holiday favourites’ list – if it’s not there already.
