Whether your thinking of an Africa holiday or backpacking around the worlds biggest continent, the following is a quick guide to the top things to do and attractions not to be missed on your trip. Travelling in Africa for most isn’t a regular occurrence so make sure you take in all the wonders it has to offer.
South Africa – South Africa holidays boast a diverse array of attractions, from the vibrant Cape Town, shadowed by the magnificent table mountain, to the plains full of wildlife, perfect for a safaris. You can even spot penguins in the south cape and relax on beautiful beaches along the magnificent shore line.
Victoria Falls - Located between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls is probably the most awesome geological spectacle to be found in all of Africa. Dropping 108 meters in one go, the Zambezi River has carved out the spectacular Victoria Falls Gorges, perfect whether you interested in exploring the stunning area or partaking in some adrenaline fueled action.
Namibia - Africa’s prime location for ecotourism, the wide array of wildlife from impressive game reserves like Etosha, one of the largest in the whole of Africa. As well as fantastic safaris, there’s the desolate Skeleton Coast, the highlands of Damaral and the other worldly landscapes of the Fishriver Canyon Park.
Primates tours - Nothing is more humbling than getting up close and personal with a wild Gorilla, primate conservation projects such as Dzanga Sangha Reserve mean you can hope for a sighting whilst helping the conservation of these beautiful animals and their habitat.
Morroco – Incredibly diverse, Morocco’s attractions range from Medieval cities and Roman ruins to spectacular scenery of mountains and deserts. Visit Marrakesh and Fez for hustle and bustle and history, take to the snow capped Atlas Mountains for spectacular hiking or take a tour of the Sahara Desert, exploring the huge dunes by camel.
Madagascar – Separated from the African continent by hundreds of kilometres of sea, Madagascar is known as the lost continent for good reason. Its isolation and 165 million years of evolution make it a wildlife lovers paradise. Madagascar is not just about wildlife, its people have a rich history and culture very different from the rest of Africa making it a very interesting place to visit.
Mozambique – Since the passing of the Guerilla war and the opening up for tourism, Mozambique has been earmarked as one of Africa’s up-and-coming hot-spots for good reason. It boasts 2500km of coastline, stunning beaches, sailing and diving from the network of coral islands. Mozambique isn’t just a beach holiday destination, there’s the opportunity for off-beat safari in the wilds of Gorongosa National Park.
