Aitutaki Lagoon, Cook Islands

Well worth the cost of the short flight from Raratonga. I defy anybody not to be blown away by the beautiful crystal clear lagoon and the beautiful sandy beaches. Get away from the busy main tourist island of Raratonga to Aitutaki, a small group of islands surrounding the incredible lagoon. Two of these islands were chosen for Channel 4s TV show Shipwrecked.

I know this is a very old post, but searching the web for peoples blogs from this place has convinced me to go there.
My flight is booked and I arrive there on Dec 15th!

Good choice, it really is a beautiful place! Make sure you try some ika mata, which is a raw fish dish (the fish is marinated in lime juice, with tomatoes, onions and coconut cream), its lovely and was a welcome break from corn beef
