Worlds Most Dangerous Road, Bolivia
As you leave La Paz the highest capital city in the world at 3500m you continue to climb before you reach the worlds most dangerous road. Every year 300 people die travelling the 50m stretch from La Paz to Corrico. Now a major Bolivian tourist attraction, mountain biking down the road is extremely popular but still very dangerous.
Whilst I agree the road is very dangerous – I believe that a large part of the problem was caused by the drivers themselves. I you have been in Bolivia most of the dirvers are not considered of others and a lot of the times they drive so dangereously. We recently went to Coroico on the new road and the drivers were absolutely mad – crossing double lines on blind bends with heavy fog and racing down the mountain – what more can I say…
