Moeraki Boulders, New Zealand
The Moeraki Boulders are huge spherical boulders lying scattered along a stretch of Koekohe Beach between Palmeston and Hampden. They are created from the erosion of mudstone by the waves. There extremely old and look amazing in the swell of incoming tide.
We stopped over night in order to get up very early, drive back down the road to the Moeraki Boulders for the sunrise. Its not exactly one of New Zealand’s most well known attractions so expect to joined by few other tourists. The only other person there was a keen photographer who kept getting in the way of our attempts at capturing a great sunrise.
Its a great stop over point and well worth the early wake for a beautiful sun rise and a unique experience.
