I was based in Bangkok for two years once and I lived in a Thai hotel, in a Thai neighbourhood – so I rarely heard English, except when trying to get some work done. When I wanted to be surrounded by the English language and had a yearning for banana pancakes, I’d head down to Khao San… same with cotton trousers in large women’s sizes!

Glad you are updating again. Khoa San is the gateway to Asia! You can get everywhere from there…but it’s important to know the shops. Alot of them are very bad but there are a few ones that are very good. check out the isreali shop…that is very good.
